Salary
Pilot Salary is known to be one of the most pleasing figures in comparison with other professions. In fact, more and more aviation schools are being established due to the number of students who want to become pilots. During a flight, may it be domestic or international; it is the pilot who is in-charge of everyone inside the aircraft. It is the pilot’s duty to ensure a safe flight and as much as possible, a smooth one also. Pilots are responsible for every single passenger’s life that is why their salaries are high and reasonable.
A pilot’s salary usually includes Minimum Monthly Guarantee (MMG), Per Diem, and Additional Pay (Add Pay).
Minimum Monthly Guarantee or simply MMG is the minimum amount that a pilot receives in a month.is guaranteed to include these monthly provided that the pilot is able to fulfill his assignments for the entire month. Next is Per Diem which covers the expenses of a pilot while he or she is performing his / her assignment. Per Diem includes food and incidental expenses but these are not the limitation. It may also include other expenses. Per Diem normally the sum of benefits or incentives that are included in the pilot’s compensation package. Another good thing about Per Diem is that it is non-taxable which is favorable to the pilots. Lastly, may also include Additional Pay. Add Pay is the total of all the flights that are not included in the original assignment of a pilot. This may be earned through a voluntary flight, paid leave, used day offs, and mandatory addition of flights.
The total of the may vary because of several factors that are needed to be considered when a pilot is given a month-whole assignment. First is the rank of the pilot. The higher the rank is, the higher the rate is also. The salary also depends on the seating capacity of the aircraft that he or she will operate. Just like the principle in the pilot’s rank, the greater seating capacity the aircraft has, the higher the rate is also. International flights likewise give a higher figure to the total of the . Lastly, bigger and more established airlines are believed to pay their employees including the pilot a bit higher than the small ones or the popularly called “budget airlines”. For example, Virgin America, a budget airline based and operating in United States of America, is estimated to pay a pilot $100,800 max a year. On the other hand, Delta Airlines, which is known to be bigger and more commercialized, pays a maximum $131,134 yearly. The difference of the figures of the Pilot Salary in the said airlines can be clearly seen.
The figures mentioned above are both above the average salary of some other professions. This is the reason why many are aspiring to be pilots in the future.is high because their job is not easy, and because they are fully responsible for the safety of all the passengers of the aircraft he or she is flying.
